Happy February everyone! Today is Robinson Crusoe day, and a day in honor of all those who become castaways or who have decided to go out on their own. Today was picked because it's the day that Alexander Selkirk (the likely influence for the book Robinson Crusoe) was rescued.

Hopefully you all have a great month ahead of you and no one becomes a castaway (unless you want to!).

International Hoof Care Week - Duck of the Day #239

There are few attributes that ducks don't have. Personality-wise, it's all there; however, ducks were never blessed a number of things. One such thing is hoofs. Seeing as this week is international Hoof Care Week and we have no animals with hoofs, this horse rubber ducky is the best we can do!

Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day - Duck of the Day #238

We would like to bring your attention to quite the important event! Today is Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day.

An unfortunate fact of life is that some ducks don't make it to our stores in tip-top shape (see picture for evidence). Rubber duckies get sent to us with all sorts of odd deformities. We do our best to take care of these duckies, often finding homes in the strangest places: under desks, behind cash registers, you name it!

In addition to the protection the rubber duck population, bubble wrap is endlessly fun and even more endlessly annoying to those you love ;-) It is truly worthy of your appreciation!

Hello everyone! Today, in 1888, the National Geographic Society was formed. Most well known for the magazine National Geographic, the society has been working to study and conserve the the environment, different cultures, and pices of history.

Nuclear Science Week - Duck of the Day #234

Today is National Nuclear Science Week. Nuclear science has earned a pretty rough reputation over the years, but it's not all bad! Nuclear science is simply any science involving the nucleus of cells. This includes research in areas like weapons and power, but also consists of a much wider field including medicine and engineering!

There are many things you use today which are only here as a result of research of the nucleus. I cannot find indisputable evidence, but I'm pretty sure rubber ducks are some of them!! (Please comment if you know more about it)
